EXPLORE COURSES
Lindsey Brookes has been practising as a professional therapist for over fifteen years and teaching complementary therapy for much of that time. Her clinical background spans hospice care, specialist SEND community settings, and postgraduate training at the Royal Marsden Hospital — environments where precision, adaptability and genuine skill were not optional. She holds a postgraduate diploma in aromatherapy blending, a VTCT NVQ Level 2 and 3 in Complementary Therapies, a Level 3 Adult Education and Teaching Diploma, and is a Reiki Master Teacher. She teaches the way she works: with individual attention, real clinical knowledge, and a genuine investment in the people she trains.

Our short courses are accredited, insurable and designed to comply with the National Occupational Standards for complementary therapy in the UK. That means that from the day you complete your qualification, you have everything you need to work with clients professionally — whether you set up independently, join a clinic, or offer treatments alongside an existing role. These are not taster courses. They are proper, practice-ready qualifications that open doors.
For those who want the industry gold standard, Brookes Therapy Training also offers Ofqual-regulated VTCT Level 3 Diplomas — the qualifications required for employment in spas, clinical settings, the NHS and beyond. What makes our approach distinctive is that you can build your portfolio of expertise gradually and flexibly - suiting your time and budget - and you can add further modalities without repeating the underpinning learning and core modules you’ve already done. In addition, if you hold one of our short courses in the corresponding modality, you get financial and academic consideration if you want to upgrade your qualification to a Level 3 Diploma.
Training is designed to fit around real life. Most courses run at weekends and some evenings, so you can qualify without stepping away from your job or your family responsibilities. Not sure yet which level is right for you? Every student who begins on a short course has a clear pathway available should they want to progress, with both their financial investment and prior learning fully recognised. Training takes place at ReCoop Health in Nuneaton — in the heart of England, easily reached from across the Midlands, the North, and beyond. Many students travel specifically for the quality of training here. If you’re not nearby, it’s worth the trip.
There is no substitute for in-person, practical training — and it matters more in Complementary Therapy than almost any other field. Online programmes can deliver theory, but they cannot watch your hands, correct your posture, adjust your pressure, or catch the moment your confidence wavers and offer helpful and personal reassurance. The difference between a therapist who has been properly taught in person and one who has completed an online course is something clients feel immediately. All practical training at Brookes Therapy Training is delivered in person, in a real working clinic environment - so you don’t just learn massage but how to set up a professional space, in small groups where every student receives individual attention throughout.
Every course is taught by Lindsey Brookes — a therapist whose clinical experience goes well beyond the treatment room. She has worked as therapy team leader in a hospice, delivering complementary therapies to palliative care patients and their families in one of the most demanding environments a therapist can work in. She has worked extensively in SEND schools and community outreach settings with children and young people who could not always communicate their needs verbally — work that made her a more attentive, responsive and adaptable practitioner than any classroom training alone could have done. She has completed clinical aromatherapy courses held at the Royal Marsden Hospital. When Lindsey teaches, she is not teaching theory. She is teaching what she has learned by doing the work at the highest level, in the most demanding settings, for over fifteen years.
You’ll leave this course knowing not just how to perform a full-body Swedish massage, but why each stroke works — what it does to the muscles, the circulation, the nervous system. By the time you’re assessed, you’ll have given a complete treatment, received individual feedback from Lindsey, and built the kind of hands-on confidence that only comes from actually doing it.
SHORT COURSE
LEVEL 3 DIPLOMA
You will learn about the art and science of aromatherapy and essential oils. In addition to delivering full-body aromatherapy massage treatments safely and effectively, you will learn about the chemistry and efficacy of each essential oil in the syllabus — so you can work with them synergistically to support your client as an individual. Your tutor is an experienced clinical aromatherapist, and you’ll benefit from that depth of knowledge throughout the course.

LEVEL 3 DIPLOMA
This is a unique course created by Susan Mousley — a practising midwife, clinical aromatherapist and educator. It provides training in two disciplines: safe and appropriate massage techniques for pregnancy, and the safe use of aromatherapy across the appropriate trimesters. You will graduate knowing how to safely support pregnant women with genuine confidence. This is a postgraduate qualification — you will need to hold a massage qualification before enrolling.
